Our Heritage

This is our heritage

STERIS Instrument Management Services began as Synergy Health over 20 years ago delivering high quality, surgical instrument sterilisation and decontamination services. In November 2015 Synergy Health combined with STERIS a leading provider of infection prevention and other procedural products and services.

The Synergy Health business was founded by Dr Richard Steeves in response to a combination of Lord Carters review of efficiency in hospitals and the issuance of The Department of Health Technical Memorandum (HTM 01-01). The purpose of these guidelines was to raise the quality of instrument processing across the UK and healthcare providers were prompt in commissioning partners to assist in the delivery of effective SSD services (on-site and off-site) to assist in raising standards.
